i know the majority of eating disordered people become vegan for weightloss (which even i admit to on some level), but i am posting this to ask you to consider veganism for another reason.
there are very serious problems in the world that deserve our attention, and cruelty to animals is one of them. we should try to alleviate suffering wherever we can. helping animals is not any more or less important than helping human beings—they are both important. animal suffering and human suffering are interconnected. animals should have the right to equal consideration of their interests. they are living, breathing, and feeling beings who deserve respect.
we do not have the moral right to inflict unnecessary suffering on those who are at our mercy. saying that it’s acceptable to experiment on animals to advance veterinary science is like saying that it’s acceptable to experiment on poor children to benefit rich ones.
Question reality. Just because it’s “always been that way” doesn’t mean it’s right. we have a choice here, and it makes sense to choose compassion. now, i am aware that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and i am not trying to "convert" anyone to veganism. all i ask is for you to give it some thought and consideration. at least take the time to visit a few web sites and see for yourself what is happening. then you can decide. www.peta.org www.peta2.com www.animalactivist.com www.caringconsumer.com
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS: ANIMALS ARE NOT OURS TO EXLOIT ANIMALS ARE NOT OURS TO EAT ANIMALS ARE NOT OURS TO USE FOR ENTERTAINMENT ANIMALS ARE NOT OURS TO EXPERIMENT ON
